Lisa has had a life long involvement and passion for movement. She was originally trained in the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus and started her career as a professional dancer in the commercial genre at the age of 18, working in a musical in Spain. Her work as a dancer kept her travelling for 7 years in Europe and Asia and included work on television, musicals, product launches, fashion parades, Chesse Rijst Contemporary Dance Company and at the Lido in Paris. She first became involved with Pilates in the early 90’s when she returned to Australia and became an instructor working in a Pilates studio, and instructed Pilates to people like Paul Mercurio and John Mullins (Senior Lecturer and Program Co-ordinator of the BA/Bed at UNSW). She also taught dance at Sydney’s major dance centres, including Sydney Dance Company studios, Aboriginal Dance Theatre, Sydney University, various high schools, at State Dance Camps and Bodenweisers, and was involved in writing the jazz syllabus for the Australian Dance Assessment Program. She opened the dance school on the Northern Beaches in 1994. In 2005 she applied for and won a scholarship, to become a Certificate IV Pilates Instructor with Pilates International. She completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2008 and her Advance Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2010. Lisa is passionate about the benefits of movement for the body and spirit. She believes you can always improve in what you do and will continue to study to improve her knowledge, skills and qualifications as a teacher of Dance and Pilates. She holds a current first aid Certificate and is VETAB Accredited to teach Ballet and Jazz to Certificate IV Dance Performance Studies or HSC studies. She is a member of Ausdance www.ausdance.com.au, Australian Dance Vision www.adv.org.au and the Pilates Alliance Australasia.

Nicci began her dance training as a teenager in the eisteddfod circuit, and has attended full time dance study at The Australian College of Entertainment (ACE), the Nepean College and Brent St. Ever the opportunist, she has endeavored to take classes, privates and workshops whenever possible and among her many wonderful teachers over the years are Todd McKenny and Dein Perry. Nicci also lived in the USA for a year and studied tap, hip-hop, ballet, modern and jazz in New York and Los Angeles. She prefers to apply her dance skills “behind the scenes” although has performed occasionally, for example, in the Central Coast “Bodies” and with 7 Flavours in shows across NSW. Choreographic projects have included the Australian Battle of the Year, the Pan Pacific School Games Opening Ceremony, and the NSW State and Regional School Dance Festivals. Since 1987 Nicci has taught dance for many different high schools and dance schools across Sydney including Ku-ring-gai UTS, the Australian Dance Vision Company, the Sydney Dance Company and the Irvine Dance Academy in Los Angeles. Working for the Department of Education she has taught at talented dance camps, State Dance Festival Workshops, and choreographic workshops for teachers. After achieving the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Nicci was presented with a Youth Leadership award by the governor general for her work with the Youth Insearch program and today she continues to encourage her students to find self esteem and personal development through the medium of dance. Nicci joined the teaching staff at Djazzex in 1995 and loves teaching at the school for it’s friendly non-competitive atmosphere. She holds a current first aid certificate and firmly believes the secret of happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.

GWEN KOREBRITZAISTD Associate Member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance First Aid Certificate Gwen Korebrits started dancing at the age of 3. She attended the prestigious dance and stage school Bush Davies, in the UK, where she was a member of the Bush Davies Dance Company, appearing in many productions from Sleeping Beauty to The Wizard of Oz!. She obtained her teaching qualification with the ISTD, after being granted special permission to take them at 17, and became an Associate Member in Ballet, Modern/Jazz and Tap. Gwen attended the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London, where she ended up making the transition from student to teacher. She opened her own dance school in the UK in the 80’s! Moving to Australia, she taught for Sydney Festival Ballet and also ran her own dance school called JellyBeans. Gwen pioneered the extra curriculum dance at Northern Beaches Christian School. More recently Gwen has moulded her years of Theatrical training and performing into her own personal styling business. |
